Gah! Went ahead and watched Turn Left Turn Right. So.. am I gonna do the whole eeeek-shrek-teenager (not a teenager anymore) or a profesional critic?
I'm just gonna be me and if suddenly I'm drooling... well, it is permissible. hehehehe...
It was good. The movie was beautifully shot, with all the colours and the personalities shown together in one movie. I mean, you had to have a certain view of the character if you want to include both of them in one shot, yet, not letting them came face to face with each other. Then, you really appreaciate Taipei as this vibrant, rainy city, and yet, with a dash pf local pride. Furhermore, there's the soundtrack. I love the soundtrack! I love the theme song that was sung by this Singaporean songstress (forgot her name, sth like shen sen or sth). I slept with that song in my head. I wanna get that song, heck, all the three versions I heard in the movie- vocal, piano, and violin.
How's the actors? How's the characters? Love to tell ya, they nailed it to the T. Gigi Leung is fantastic. She got her German understandable to my ears, although it was still accented. She's the strong women. She was afraid when she needs to be afraid, she cried when she needs to cry, and overall, she really wanted to meet Takeshi. I think all the women (minus the stalker) in this movie are strong. There's the food-delivery girl, who stood her feet against a crazy doctor, and in the end, ends up caring for him too. There's the landlady, who you know, you dont want to cross path with her. (Takeshi did /:)
And Takeshi. After all the drooling my friend did, I got to admit, he really looks good when he's all grown up. I mean, he's cute when young, but become more handsome as he appraoch 30. And as in this character, he's that violinist. He's alone, and dammit you root for him to finally meet the girl whom the name he never knew. There's a lot of Takeshi in the violinist. The shy, reclusive, man who opened up to the one woman which walk parallel in fate. *sigh* Yes, he's a hopeless romantic.
Slash possibility? well, in a movie full of hetero couple, my slashy mind pointed to one. The restaurant owner and Takeshi. I dont know, he went to take the job as a violin player in one restaurant, just... oh heck, I know I know... my imaginary is just that.
oh heck, I'm suppose to work. shhh....

Just finished HP5, late at night... and now I'm sleep deprieved. Yea yea... it's been ages I know. But I kinda stopped at chapter 15 and then picked up from there. Just like the story...
So now, everyone knows the story, ya think I thould put a spoiler space here? what the heck... This review contrains spoiler. Do not read it the rest....
Ok, back to the review: The story really picked up from chapter 15 onwards. Hermione's DA idea, the togetherness in their group, the very very nasty Umbridge, Harry's personal lesson with Snape (for Snarry worshippers out there!), Snape revelation, and Sirius's death. It's so so...@.@
Snape! My dearie Snape. Now Ms Rowling had explained the rigin of Snape's nastiness, can we have an explanation why Snape is so obssessed with Defence Against Dark Arts? hm? Come on Ms Rowling, it'll be cool. And they did NOT take off his pants! My slashy mind conjure many kinds of images. eeek!
Sirius's death is so sudden. Killed by your own cousin, the last of Black family... kinda well, give the pang to your heart. He's like the coolest Godfather anyone ever had, more like a brother you wished you had. Always up to his mischievous way, untill Hermione reluctant to continue with the DA's idea cos of Sirius's support. And the whole family, yes, he is related to the Malfoy's. *cringe* The thing again, the fact that according to Harry, Sirius's was tortured and gagged and unable to move had managed to conjured lots of things in my slashy mind. *bang head*
Overall, the book is good. Although it did not kept my interest for a long... (for stopping at chapter 15 for a long time...) and the surprise is not really there anymore (Voldie in book 4 is unexpected, Voldie in Book 5 is expected), the tone of the book is still there. Ms Rowling managed to create a very nasty character (Ms Umbridge), an atmosphere of helplessness (announcing the High Inquisitor), the worst ever punishment (banned from Quilditch? what the heck??!!), some revelations (Black's and Snape's past), magical creature (Threstal), the funniest commentator (Lee Jordan's on Angelina? hehehehe.... ) and the coollest get-away ever! (The Weasly Twins! I love the Wesley twins!)
Overall, there's a good reason why I slept very late and still finished it. Very engaging indeed....
